There is an old nursery rhyme in Beijing called 'Tricycles', which goes like this:
Tricycles are really popular. You don't have to run with your feet, you can use your feet to pedal. Go up to the front door, visit the Forbidden City, and go to the Peach Blossom Palace outside the east gate. Riding a tricycle, your heart is relaxed, and you don't have to worry about weighing yourself
In the early years of the Republic of China in Beiping, the streets were filled with people pulling and running two wheeled carts. The people pulling the carts put in a lot of effort, and if they didn't pay attention, the cart would flip backwards, which is the nursery rhyme of "weighing the scales".
20century30After the era, tricycles became popular and gradually replaced the position of rickshaws. Rickshaw drivers were upgraded to tricycles, commonly known as "pedaling three wheels".
